G'day โ€” I'm Sam King

Builder ยท Teacher ยท Ben's Brother

A builder by trade and an ex-woodwork teacher by profession. I've put together these plans with a focus on being structurally sound but with the easiest join and assembly methods possible. The average Year 10 Technology student could build these โ€” and so could you.

All plans can be modified to suit your size and shape, though we recommend a minimum 15-degree roof pitch. Plans are based on buying timber from your local yard and plastic from a supplier โ€” but come to us for the gear that makes your greenhouse actually work โ€” fans, vents and rollups that turn a plastic tent into a tropical jungle rather than the Sahara desert.

These plans are provided as a guide. They work for us and for many of our customers. Modify them freely. Always check local council requirements โ€” resource consent or building consent may apply in your area.

Build Videos

Step-by-step videos from Ben and Sam's own builds. More going up as we move them across from Facebook to YouTube.

NZ greenhouses with adequate ventilation for tropical fruit

Almost no NZ greenhouses are designed with tropical fruit in mind. The default design traps heat โ€” fine for starting seedlings, damaging for mangoes in summer.

Our plans include proper ventilation from the start. Already have a greenhouse that overheats? Email us โ€” we can advise on the most effective modifications.
